How can I do a manual correction |
|
Question : I have done a correction and I have credited a Receivable instead of a Payable. When I try to make the correction it says I can’t change between those accounts.
How do I correct this ?
There is no automatic function to do this since the two accounts involved are not within the same category.
You must process a manual correction via a G/L transaction (all non-automated corrections are done through a general transaction).
| • | Use the menu Transactions > General |
| • | On the first line, select the receivable account involved |
| • | Type a description (in the column named ‘’Description’’) |
| • | Type the invoice number in the column named ‘’Invoice #’’ |
| o | If you don’t know the invoice number, just click on the button “Statement” |
| ▪ | It will bring the account statement on screen |
| ▪ | You will see the invoice number involved. Note it and type it in the transaction |
| • | Post the amount in the Debit column |
| • | On the second line, select the account payable you want |
| o | By clicking in the column named ‘’Description’’, the description typed on the previous line will be repeated. |
| ▪ | You may change it or type a new one |
| • | Type an invoice number for the payable or let the system do it automatically |
| • | Post the amount in the Credit column |
| • | Click on ‘’Process’’ |
Reminder :
If you are not familiar with accounting, when processing a general transaction, use the Wizard to guide you.
| • | For each line of the transaction, just click on the Wizard button and answer the four easy questions |
| • | The system will post the entry correctly |
| o | No risk to type the amount in the wrong column |
